Exit Games supports iPhone

Exit Games supports iPhone

Good news for game developers: Apple’s iPhone OS version 3.0 is now out in beta. Next to some 100 new features such as drag & drop (shake the device to make the undo options pop up) what’s currently most interesting from our perspective is that finally it will be possible to use microbilling from within iPhone applications! So not only are you able to quickly develop multiplayer game using our iPhone SDK, but you will also be able to make money after the players have downloaded the game. Let them pay for additional levels, buy in-game items, you name it.

The new OS will officially be out in the summer, but using the beta version you can already start developing your multiplayer game with in-game transactions. This is very exciting!

World Golf Tour - Wolf Creek Course

World Golf Tour - Wolf Creek Course

Those of you already registered with World Golf Tour have received the WGT newsletter and know it – all the others may be interested to hear that our client has added some great features to his HQ online golf game.

Now, the Kiawah Ocean Course can be played on the whole – all 18 holes are included now! If you’re short on time, you can always chose to play only the front 9 or the back 9. And there’s a new challenge out also: Wolf Creek. A quite radical course set in a canyon! If you think you’ve mastered about everything so far, try this one … and cringe.

And here’s a link to all the details of the update: World Golf Tour

And finally, here’s the last part of the unconventional Projekt Deutschlandreise Blog Documentary on Exit Games.

Projekt Deutschlandreise #3 - GolfingSince one of our largest projects is World Golf Tour, it was self-evident that we had to talk about golf.

And go play golf. <gulp>

So this part was shot on a driving range near or offices. It was freezing cold and while Chris gave some clever answers I found out how hard it really is to hit this frickin’ little ball …

Anyway, it was really fun afterall, and here’s the great video blog entry (again, in German): “Golfing with Xeon”

Remember the guys from Projekt Deutschlandreise? They visited us a while ago, shooting a little blog-documentary about Exit Games.

Projekt Deutschlandreise #2 - OriginsThe first part was filmed in a submarine, now the second part is online, shot in our offices. Chris talks about the origins of Exit Games – again, all in German. But maybe you’d like to have a look here: “Code needs Power

Unity3D and HTTP

Today we found out, that Unity3D has some unexpected limitations. Even though it’s working smoothly on most systems, using HTTP is not. The Web Players and the Windows Editor (Beta) can’t make the “usual” WebRequests we use internally. The exported Windows executable is running nicely though.

We’re on it.

Arena Wars (PC)

Arena Wars (PC)

In February the guys from MobileBits visited us. They are a team of enthusiastic people and founded MobileBits only a short while ago to focus on iPhone development. But they are by far no amateurs. With their other company,  exDream, they already proved their expertise when they developed the highly successful “Arena Wars”.  Benjamin Nitschke, one of the founders and lead programmer, not only wrote an acclaimed book on XNA development but is also Microsoft MVP (“Most Valuable Professional”) since 2006 in the category XNA/DirectX.

A while ago, Exit Games was visited by a German team of creative reporters on their tour through Germany. Searching innovative high-tech companies, they travel across the country in what they call “Projekt Deutschlandreise” and report their visits and interviews on their blog website.

Projekt Deutschlandreise #1 - Surviving By Innovation

Their first crazy blog video is now online, filmed in the belly of a Russian submarine from the 1970′s, Chris was asked about how innovation can help survive in the times of a world economic crisis. Unfortunately, it’s in German only. But maybe you’d like to have a look?

It’s time you started playing golf! Now there’s no need to even leave your chair – you can do it all right here on the Internet. Our technology powers the multiplayer backend of World Golf Tour’s high-definition online golf game. Although still in public beta, the game is constantly expanded upon. The latest update allows players’ bag management and an in-game ProShop!

In case you had wondered what to do with all the credits you’ve won in the WGT tournaments: Now you can use them to buy new clubs and compare their physics properties with the ones you already own. Of course, better clubs do make a difference in the game!

As you know we’re constantly expanding your SDK library to enable developers to use Neutron in as many environments as possible. After our SDK for Google’s Android and our SKD for iPhone (which is currently in highest demand), we now finalized our SDK for Unity3D.

Unity Tropical Island Demo

You don’t know what Unity is? It’s a game development environment specializing in 3D – now you can use this environment to develop your own 3D games and take advantage of Exit Games’ Neutron SDK to make it a great multiplayer title.

Have a look at Unity’s website to learn more about this exiting environment and don’t forget to check out their 3D demo “Tropical Island

Almost forgot: Of course you can download our Unity3D SKD in our developer network.
